Driving across Qinghai is more than just a journey; it’s an exhilarating adventure through a living canvas. My friend Steve and I found ourselves enchanted by the ever-changing scenery. One moment we were surrounded by stark, rocky landscapes, and the next, we were captivated by the hues of the mountains that seemed to dance in the sunlight. With each bend in the road, I couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow, wow, wow!” The beauty was simply overwhelming, and my camera became an extension of my awe.

As we cruised along the long stretches of road, I felt a tug-of-war between the mindfulness I sought and the sheer excitement of capturing every moment. “Can we stop here? Can we stop there?” I would plead, but the journey had its rhythm, and we couldn’t halt at every breathtaking vista. Instead, I embraced the flow of the experience, shooting from the car, my heart racing with joy as I captured the essence of our adventure.

Qinghai is dotted with stunning lakes, including the famous Qinghai Lake, a jewel that attracts visitors from near and far. In June, during my visit, the crowds were manageable, allowing us to explore without feeling overwhelmed. The vibrant costumes of fellow travelers added an unexpected charm to the scenery. As they played in the water and posed for their own photos, I found inspiration in their joy. I began capturing them in their element, their reflections shimmering in the lake against the majestic backdrop. It was a delightful dance of creativity, where I was not just a photographer, but a storyteller weaving together moments of happiness.

During our daytime exploration, Steve and I joined in the fun, embracing the spirit of local travelers.
