That’s why I’ve embarked on a journey with a project called Mindful Photography. This practice isn’t just about capturing the perfect image; it’s about embracing the process and uncovering the personal benefits that come with it. It’s about slowing down, being present, and finding joy in the act of seeing the world through a different lens.

In one of my recent exercises, I decided to focus on a single subject. Before even picking up my camera, I took a moment to engage in a short meditation. This simple act of centering myself helped me to clear my mind and open my heart to the present moment. It was a gentle reminder that photography, much like life, is about the journey, not just the destination.

With a clear mind, I began to observe my chosen subject from various angles. I took the time to truly appreciate its shape, colors, light, shade, and texture. This process of observation was incredibly enlightening. It felt like I was peeling back layers to reveal the true essence of what was in front of me. Each angle offered a new perspective, a fresh insight, much like how we can view the different facets of our lives.

It taught me that there isn’t just one truth but a multitude of possibilities waiting to be discovered. This realization was both liberating and empowering.

I must admit, when I review the photos, I notice they are far from perfect. They’re filled with what some might call “norm mistakes” and missing elements. Yet, I’ve come to embrace this vulnerability. These imperfections are a testament to my growth and a reminder that it’s okay to be imperfect. Vulnerability, after all, is a crucial part of the journey towards personal growth and self-acceptance. It’s a space where we allow ourselves to be seen as we truly are, flaws and all.
